We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
For over 23 years, Horizons Greater Washington has provided an award-winning academic and enrichment program for students residing in underserved communities in Washington, DC and Maryland.
Across three program sites, Horizons students are provided with dedicated teachers and intensive learning that improves their foundation for the school years ahead, balances academics and social emotional development, and provides the tools they need to thrive in school and beyond. The need for our work has never been more pressing. The detrimental impacts of COVID have shined a light on educational inequities in our community and we are a proven partner in local efforts to aid in learning recovery. Our efforts have been so successful, that the past two summers, there has been a waitlist for our services. We know that, in Horizons, we have a program that works and a community that needs us.
This summer, we will welcome our largest enrollment yet with 430 students enrolled across our three sites (an increase of 11% over the prior summer) to meet the overwhelming demand and need of the community. We are also increasing our reach to serve students in DC’s Ward 8 through newly established partnerships with the Bishop Walker School for Boys and Simon Elementary School and have leaned into health equity by ensuring more nutrient-dense meals through an innovative meal service partnership with fellow nonprofit Shepherd's Table.
We hope that you will join us as part of Horizons Giving Day in raising $15,000 to implement these changes and to continue providing a meaningful learning experience that prepares Horizons’ students for the year ahead. Thanks to a generous donor all gifts made between now and May 17th, will be matched dollar for dollar up to $15,000. That’s $30,000 that will directly impact every dimension of Horizons programming and prepare our students for the year ahead.
Will you be a partner in advancing educational equity by making your gift today?
