Dear Maret Eighth Grade Families,

At Horizons, we respond to the widening education gap in the DC area by providing a joyful summer full of intensive academics, engaging art projects, and robust aquatic activities. Each summer, Horizons students spend five weeks building their skills in reading and language arts, discovering new passions in STEAM, experiencing stellar swim instruction, broadening their learning through field trip experiences, and expanding their self-confidence and friendships. Our students learn in small classes, with incredible teachers, in fantastic facilities including Maret School.

Now, more than ever, our project-based curriculum will be critical to ensuring our students feel ready to take on the new school year. This year, we will welcome 140 students to Maret’s campus and we need your help!

As part of our commitment to removing barriers to learning and ensuring ALL of our students have everything they need to fully participate, our program is entirely cost-free. In addition to round-trip transportation and meals, we provide 6 books per student, STEAM project kits, equipment, school supplies, and high-quality art supplies. We help our students build their personal libraries, continue practicing and creating at home, and be better prepared for the school year.

This year, we are asking the Maret Community to help with funding our supply needs and ensuring that each student has a complete set of books, STEAM kits, and school and art supplies. Your support at the following levels will help to provide funding for:

  • $30 provides art brushes, colored pencils, and drawing paper for 1 student
  • $50 provides the anchor book for 5 students
  • $100 funds all curriculum supplies for 1 student
  • $150 provides Horizon t-shirts for the entire class
  • $250 funds 8 KiwiCo. Kits to drive our youngest students' project-based STEM lessons

We are so excited to provide our newest, youngest students and our returning students with another amazing Horizons summer experience.

Thank you,

The Team at Horizons Greater Washington
